What is an endowment gift? How does Mineola Civic Center’s endowment work?
Established in 1980, the Mineola Civic Center Endowment was the first time since the founding of the civic center that donors had been given the opportunity to financially support the MCC. Gifts of any amount are welcomed, but there are giving levels with special recognition on a granite donor wall in front of Meredith Hall on the grounds of the Mineola Civic Center. Endowment funds are invested for long-term growth. These funds provide long-term stability for Mineola Civic Center and a way for donors to honor or memorialize someone. Each year, a portion of the fund's earnings is made available in the form of payout. The payout is about 5 percent of the fund's value at the end of the preceding year. To give to the Endowment, please visit Donate Now or contact the Manager at 903.569.6115.
How will my gift to the Mineola Civic Center Endowment Fund be used?
Your gift to the endowment ensures the operation of the civic center for future generations. A small percentage of the proceeds are available for distribution annually. For more information about the Endowment Fund giving levels, please go to the Mineola Civic Center Endowment Wall and Fund page.
History of the Endowment Fund
The Mineola Civic Center Endowment Fund was established by the Mineola Civic Center Board of Directors in 1980 to help ensure that Mineola Civic Center remains a vibrant asset now and for future generations. The Endowment Fund is managed by a group of local community professionals and volunteers, serving under the leadership of the Mineola Civic Center Board of Directors.
A small percentage of the proceeds are available for distribution annually, with the corpus invested in a conservative portfolio. Funds may be used for purposes identified and approved by the Mineola Civic Center Board of Directors, with priority given to major facility repairs and maintenance, and replacement of equipment and building systems. The secondary purpose of the Endowment Fund is for general operating support for the Mineola Civic Center.
Other gifts can be given to support the Endowment Fund, including stocks and investments, IRA Rollover gifts, bequests and other planned gifts, and in-kind donations. The Board of Directors reviews all gifts that are not cash, under the guidelines of the Mineola Civic Center Gift Acceptance Policy.
Thank you for your support!
